A prominent member of the Pakistan Muslim League (N), he played a crucial role in the energy and aviation sectors. As Minister for Petroleum and Natural Resources, he was instrumental in initiating Pakistan’s first Liquefied Natural Gas (LNG) import terminal, significantly easing the country’s energy crisis. Earlier, as Minister for Aviation, he revitalized Pakistan International Airlines (PIA) by introducing new aircraft and expanding routes. Known for his technocratic approach and administrative competence, Abbasi is respected for his policy-driven governance and for maintaining stability during a politically turbulent period following Nawaz Sharif’s disqualification.
